sea of genes

metagenomic fishbowl
exhibit designer/developer – apr 2017

The third installment in the Living Liquid grant, I found myself working again with my pals at the Exploratorium, this time as a client of Stamen.

Alongside Plankton Populations, this was my second exploration of metagenomics on the grant. Sea of Genes presents a simulation of microscopic life driven by metagenomic data. Organisms in the simulation interact with one another and their environment in a realistic abstraction of the marine communities they represent.
